Waterbury police make arrest in mall shooting

Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - Waterbury police have made an arrest in connection with a mass shooting at a mall Tuesday afternoon.

A total of five people, all adults, were wounded when shots rang out at the Brass Mill Center Mall on Union Street.

They range in age from 20 to 26.

Police say Tajuan Washington, 19, is charged.

Officers say the shooting stemmed from a dispute between individuals who knew each other.

Washington turned himself in Tuesday night.

He faces a number of charges, including illegal discharge of a firearm, risk of injury, criminal use of a weapon, five counts of assault and carrying a pistol without a permit, among others.

Bond was set at $2 million.

Three of the victims have been released from the hospital, police said.

Two remain hospitalized in stable condition.
