Lieutenant David Balnis faces charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence.
He turned himself in earlier today.
It was October 30 that investigators say the 55-year-old allegedly sideswiped a parked vehicle and a fence in his pickup truck on Highland Avenue.
He was taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Police say Balnis was off-duty at the time of the crash.
He's free on $5,000 bond and is on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation.
