Bristol, Conn./WTIC Radio - The woman accused of firing a gun in the Bristol police department in 2023 has pled guilty.

Suzanne Laprise, 52, will be sentenced on a charge of criminal attempt to commit assault with a firearm.

It was October 6th, 2023 when Laprise opened fire at the front desk office window in the lobby of Bristol police headquarters.

Police attempted to negotiate with her but officers returned fire when Laprise shot at them a second time.

That shooting came a year after two Bristol officers were killed in an ambush and a third was wounded.

In a statement, Bristol Police Chief Mark Morello said the department is satisfied with the resolution of the case and praised what he called the "heroic actions of our officers on that night."

There were no injuries

The state inspector general later ruled officers were justified in discharging their weapons.
