(KFTK) - Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker has announced that all schools K-12, public and private in the state will close March 17-30 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"This is the right thing to do," Pritzker said during a press conference on Friday.
The state also announced an additional 14 COVID-19 cases are being monitored. Pritzker said on Thursday the number of COVID-19 cases in the state had grown to 32.

Pritzker also advised citizens of the state to stay home if possible this weekend.
On Thursday, Pritzker mandated events of 1,000 or more people be canceled or postponed immediately and requested that events of 250 people be canceled or postponed as well. He also asked the owners of all the state's major sports teams' owners to cancel games or play without fans until May 1.Pritzker also says he is asking every private business that is able to have employees work remotely to consider doing so immediately.
