Dr. Tiffany Osborn: One year ago today, we saw the first case of COVID-19

Washington University’s Dr. Tiffany Osborn talks to the DGS about what we can expect in the next few months are we press forward during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Osborn says not to let the current death rate fool us, because death rates lag. And the long-term consequences of COVID-19 are a great cause for concern. COVID-19 could be considered a pre-existing condition for millions of people in the future, complicating the insurance process.  

Dr. Osborn also tackles the controversial issue of lockdowns in the economy. It’s difficult to contact trace and find out exactly which places are spreading the virus at the highest rate. As for Thanksgiving next week – she acknowledges that people are fatigued and want to get together during the holidays, but urges folks to be are careful as possible.
