Erica Komisar on working at home: 'What Covid has revealed is, actually you can be productive'

(KFTK) – Erica Komisar, parent coach, writer, psychoanalyst, and author of Being There: Why Prioritizing Motherhood in the First Three Years Matters, says she's seeing some positives from parents being forced to work at home during Covid-19 pandemic, despite some pushback from employers.

"Working from home because of Covid, has given them an opportunity to do what they've asked for for many years, which is to have their employers be flexible with them particilarly if they have young children," says Komisar of the new arrangements for some women.

In one instance, a woman's employer had pushed back against request for the flexibility, "her employers resisted, because they said she wouldn't be as productive. What Covid has revealed is, actually you can be productive."

Komisar tells Randy that she received quite a bit of respose for her recent article in the Wall Street Journal.

"This has forced employers to consider flexibility, that's what the article was about," says Komisar. "This article got more pushback and more rage, in fact at some point my twitter feed was shut down. My twitter, because of the hate mail."
