John Cafiero, singer for Osaka Popstar joins the Mark Reardon Show to share on their new release titled, "Ear Candy", which has pop punk versions of songs you know and love such as "I think I Love You" by the Partridge Family.
“People are constantly breaking new ground and fuzing different types of music and different genres. It’s something that I love to do with Osaka Popstar. It literally is this temporary version of music inspired by that classic New York punk of the late 70’s along with these pop culture elements like comic books, anime, and Saturday morning cereals. You may not hear it in there, but in one way or another, it’s part of the formula,” Cafiero shares in his inspirations.
Later, he commented, “It’s really just about being fun and entertaining! We’ve toured before in the past. Honestly, the original intention was that when “Ear Candy” was released, we’d have some shows queued up, but it was gonna be put out the year the pandemic struck and everything was pushed back. So while there are no shows scheduled right now, there should be by next year, if not before. In fact, there's a whole other Osaka Popstar record that’s nearly done that should be released next year as well!”
