Francis Howell School District community member Ken Gontarz joined Marc to recap the recent meeting that addressed Critical Race Theory teachings in classrooms.

Gontarz says it was a capacity, "standing-room only crowd," who got some good news and bad news from the board.

"Let me start with the bad news first. The board did pass the curriculum that was proposed, I think it was passed unanimously," Gontarz told Cox, "the good news is one that we've got a very vocal and virulent group of parents right now that want to get involved and they want to address and stop any CRT related issues."

"The second thing is that the board made a very important declaration at the end, they promised us that they will not teach CRT," says Gontarz, "they made that important declaration that they will not teach CRT."

Gontarz reminded Cox of importance of community involvement.

"If we as a group of citizens had gotten involved a year ago, this never would have gotten to this point," points out Gontarz.

Missouri State Senator Dr Bob Onder also attended the meeting, but he was not allowed to speak because he is not a resident of the school district, despite representing numerous residents in the statehouse as their Senator.

"CRT is an ideology, a radical rewriting of American history that is racist and that is marxist," says Onder. "Many of my constituents are very upset," that it is being taught in Francis Howell schools.
