JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (KMOX) - Missouri attorney general Eric Schmitt says he "will help lead the effort" to support a lawsuit challenging the results of the 2020 presidential election is four battleground states.
The suit was filed on Tuesday by Texas attorney general Ken Paxton in the Supreme Court of the United States. It claims "four states exploited the COVID-19 pandemic to justify ignoring federal and state election laws" in the November 3 election which Joe Biden has been named the President elect.
Schmitt tweeted his support for the lawsuit on Tuesday, saying "Election integrity is central to our republic. And I will defend it at every turn. As I have in other cases - I will help lead the effort in support of Texas’ #SCOTUS filing today. Missouri is in the fight."
Paxton's lawsuit cites election management in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Those states combined 62 electoral college votes when to Biden and the lawsuit requests they be invalidated – which would give President Donald Trump the victory.
