The Senate Appropriations Committee voted on a Republican-sponsored proposal that would have set money aside to fund Medicaid expansion. The vote was split 7-7 which means the proposal failed.
Medicaid expansion is voter-approved and some senators say the legislature could be sued and forced to pay.
