Outspoken attorney, lobbyist announces run against Sam Page

CLAYTON, MO (KMOX) - St. Louis County Executive Sam Page now has a Democratic opponent in the August primary -- St. Louis City, County and State Police Associations Attorney Jane Dueker. "We need a full-time County Executive working for the people," says Dueker.

"Sam Page has been lining his own pockets with an illegal second job, paying him hundreds of thousands of dollars while St. Louis County continues to head in the wrong direction," adds Dueker. She's referring to questions about how much work Page does outside of his County Executive role as an anesthesiologist.

KMOX asked Dueker if her job as an attorney and lobbyist could be seen as a conflict of interest. She says no, there's no conflict in protecting citizens but adds, she's prepared to resign from those jobs if she wins the Democratic nomination for St. Louis County Executive.

St. Louis County voters go to the polls next week to decide whether the County Executive should be barred from having an outside job.

Dueker also serves as a guest on some Audacy stations, including KMOX & KFTK.
