'I'm not going to kiss the ring': St. Louis prosecutor Kim Gardner featured on next '60 Minutes'

ST. LOUIS (97. 1 FM TALK) - Touted as the first Black woman to be St. Louis' top prosecutor, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner will be featured on "60 Minutes" this Sunday.

In a preview of the news feature, Gardner said she's "not going to kiss the ring of the status quo."

Gardner shows reporter Bill Whitaker some of the hate mail she's received, one saying she "should be hung up by a tree by the KKK." She's held her current role since 2017 and was reelected in a landslide victory this past November.

But she says she's frightened by "calls to my family, and I'm afraid that a loved one may be harmed because I took this job."

60 Minutes also talks to the head of the St. Louis Police Officers Association Jeff Roorda, who calls himself a "proud" critic of Gardner.

The feature will air Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on CBS.
