St. Louis County to utilize new AI-powered safety cameras to prevent repeat crime

St. Louis County Councilman and Former St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch joins the Mark Reardon Show to discuss the new Flock Safety Falcon cameras, which use AI to read license plates, that St. Louis County is going to use as a law enforcement tool.

“These Flock Safety cameras are all over St. Louis County. You might not even know it, they are solar powered, they’re relatively inexpensive as far as that technology goes. They are about $25,000 each. These were primarily used by law enforcement… these cameras are being put up in neighborhoods by individual HOAs,” shared Fitch.

Later he commented on data security from the cameras, “[The data] is automatically deleted after 30 days in most of these. I say most of these because you can program them to keep it longer, but most of it is automatically deleted.”
