St. Charles County Executive, Steve Ehlmann joins the Mark Reardon Show to discuss the transportation sales tax reauthorization, on the ballot for April 5th, why it’s needed, and what will happen with the money with Mark Reardon.
"This is not a new tax, it’s not a tax increase, it’s not a property tax, and most importantly it is not a gas tax. It is just asking for permission to continue to keep the same tax that we have had since 1985," says Ehlmann.
“About 25% of the money coming to St. Louis is gonna come and be handled in the same way other money has been handled. MODOT will decide which priorities it has… The other thing that we are not sure of is the other 75% of all that federal money, and what I’m afraid of is a lot of it is gonna be handled and decisions are gonna be made by federal bureaucrats in Washington, rather than elected representatives locally,” Ehlmann continued
