A police escort for Lance Cpl. Jared M. Schmitz will take place around 1 p.m. as his body is taken from St. Louis Lambert International Airport to Baue Funeral Home at 3950 West Clay Street in St. Charles. The procession will take Interstate 70 westbound from the airport and exit at Cave Springs Road, according to police.

A trooper told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that no traffic will be allowed in the westbound lanes of I-70 while the escort is traveling. The plane carrying Schmitz's body is expected to land in St. Louis at 12:35 p.m. and then the procession will begin its 12-mile route.

Schmitz was among the 13 Marines killed in Kabul after an airport suicide bombing on Aug. 26.
