In October of 2021 Washington Park's emergency services building burned down. This building housed the fire department, police department, and public works department. Mayor Leonard Moore has been reaching out to state politicians to no avail. Currently, the police are using the senior center and the firetrucks are being stored in a citizen's building.
“The elected officials haven’t even offered a case of water,” says, Mayor Moore.
Wavey Lester, a state senate candidate for the 57th district of Illinois has reached out on the Mayor's behalf. He too has had little success in getting a response. The two men joined The Annie Frey Show and shared their stories. You can find the interview on the podcast in the audio above.
