Braden Boucek, Director of litigation for the Southeastern Legal Foundation, joins the Mark Reardon Show to discuss why Webster Groves School District’s parents are upset over some of the recent surveys given to students.
“Students are being polled relentlessly on topics ranging from their political affiliation and views on the death penalty and planned parenthood, but also their gender and sexual orientation. They're being asked about their mental health and not just that, but the mental health and well being of their family members as well,” stated Boucek.
Later, he continued, “Students as young as second grade are being required to fill out ‘my identity’ journals where they’re asked about their racial identity and comfort level with persons of other races. Webster Groves School District was requiring high school students to take an advisory class where they take weekly sample surveys of their own mental health and that of their families and then ask questions like, ‘I'm aware of and comfortable with my racial cultural and personal identity’ or ‘my family supports me in my academic and personal life’ and ‘I feel supported by my family’.”
