Job seekers have been sharing the most quirky, unexpected questions they've ever been asked in a job interview.
Mentoring platform, PushFar, surveyed Reddit posts. Topping the list:
"What's your Uber rating?"
"How are you at dealing with stupid people?"
"If you could be any of the original 150 Pokemon, which one would you choose?
Why do interviewers do this? KMOX's Total Information AM asked David Cathey, a hiring expert and partner with Unity Search Group. "I think because some of them just kind of want to get a genuine answer, something that you're not prepared for, to see a few things. How do you respond under pressure? Are you gonna take a beat to think for a minute? Are you gonna ask for clarification to make sure you're answering the question that they're asking in the right way and sometimes it gives a little bit of your personality too."
Cathey says there are ways to prepare. "If you were presented to that company by a recruiter, and hopefully that recruiter has had multiple candidates interview at that company... ...when they debrief those candidates, they should have a really good understanding of, this particular manager likes to ask a couple of trick questions. Here's what they are."
He points off, there's always the risk that a hiring manager could turn off a potentially good hire. But Cathey says there's also the opportunity at the end of the interview to explain why that question was asked and how it's important to the process.
