One man is walking into the new year with some wounds he picked up at a place more associated with mouse ear hats and Moana keychains: Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. They’re not from trying to out-run a giant boulder.
According to the Independent, a fight broke out at The Happiest Place on Earth at around 2 p.m. Dec. 30. It all started when one group in line for the Indiana Jones Adventure tried to pass another group in line, the outlet said, citing Sgt. Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department.
“Witnesses said the man whose family cut into the line brutally beat the other, who was visiting the park from Washington state with his family, KTLA said.
The Los Angeles Times reported that a spokesperson for Disneyland said the altercation occurred between two male guests.
“A verbal argument led to a physical altercation. One male was injured, received first aid, and remained in the park the rest of the day with his family,” Sutter told The Independent. He added that the victim denied media requests for interviews.
Meanwhile, the suspect reportedly fled from the park and was at large as of Tuesday. Investigators were working on following leads and attempting to contact him, said The Independent. This suspect is believed to be a Southern California resident.
“There are two sides to every story, so we need to hear from him (and) what happened from his point of view,” Sutter told the LA Times. Anyone with information, including video, is encouraged to contact the Anaheim Police Department.
KTLA said the fight lasted around 30-seconds and that it shocked fellow parkgoers, including children. Some of them took to Reddit to discuss the experience.
Line fights aren’t the only apparent danger lurking at the Happiest Place on Earth, as the park is commonly known. Audacy has previously reported that a lamp post fell on a visitor at the park and that security was beefed up in 2023 following multiple suicides.
