Fruit pouches sold at multiple chain stores nationwide have been recalled due to the potential presence of soft plastic, according to a recall notice published Tuesday by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. So far, no injuries have been reported.
PT Organics Unlimited of Lake Oswego, Ore., is voluntarily recalling 4-ounce Pumpkin Tree Peter Rabbit Organics brand “Banana & Strawberry Fruit Puree Pouches” due to an internal packaging defect. Per the recall notice, the defect might result in “a strand of soft, food-grade plastic in the finished product.”
These fruit pouches were sold exclusively through Kroger, Meijer and Target retail stores nationwide between March 6 and July 13 of this year. They can be identified by lot codes printed on the back of the pouches, including barcode 8 15367 01078 0, lane number “4” printed on the rear right-hand side seam and best before dates of “01/19/2027, 01/20/2027, 03/17/2027, 03/18/2027, 05/14/2027, or 05/15/2027,” per the FDA notice.

No other products are included in the recall. According to the notice, PT Organics’ packaging supplier recalled a production run of defective pouches last week. Then, PT Organics’ inspections of finished product made with the recalled packaging “confirmed the presence of a strand of a soft, food-grade plastic attached to the inside of a small number of pouches,” and it initiated its own recall.
Consumers who purchased the pouches are encouraged to dispose of them or return them to where they were purchased. No refund information was provided in the FDA recall notice.
