Kid Rock, the musician who helped kickstart the right-wing’s boycott of Bud Light that left America’s #1 beer reeling with months of continued declining sales, believes the alcoholic beverage has suffered enough.
Interviewed online by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Kid Rock said it was time to call off the dogs.
“They deserved a black eye, and they got one,” Rock said. “Do I want to hold their head under water and drown them because they made a mistake? No, I think they got the message.”
The boycott began in the spring after Bud Light did a brief promotion involving transgender social-media star Dylan Mulvaney, which drew the ire of conservatives after Kid Rock posted a video calling for a boycott that featured him shooting up Bud Light cans.
But recently, Rock was spotted drinking Bud Light, and he told Carlson it’s time to move on.
“I would like to see people get us back on board and become bigger because that’s the America that I want to live in,” he said. “There’s nothing wrong with giving a spanking. You don’t spank them for the rest of their life.
“Someone gets taught a lesson, you said we made a mistake, alright man, let’s move on… We’ve done it for a whole lot worse.”
