A Southern California school district will pay $2.25 million to a sex abuse victim of one of its former teachers who was also impregnated by another student.

The new settlement is just the latest for the Redlands Unified School District, which has now shelled out $8.25 million to the victims of Laura Whitehurst since her 2013 arrest, according to a report from the Southern California News Group.

The $2.25 settlement comes from the latest lawsuit filed in 2021 by a former Redlands High School student who has claimed that Whitehurst preyed on him in 2007 and 2008 when he was 14 years old, the plaintiff’s attorney shared with Mercury News.

Whitehurst admitted to having sex with the victim at least 10 to 15 times inside the San Bernardino classroom and her apartment, Redlands Daily Facts reported.

So far, the former English teacher and soccer coach has pleaded guilty to having unlawful sex with three former students who were minors at the time, one of whom she has a child with.

Whitehurst served six months in jail and registered as a sex offender in 2014, the same year she gave birth, the New York Post reported.

The school district agreed to a $6 million settlement in 2016 with another victim, the father of the former teacher’s child, for the abuse he endured at 16 while in her classroom.

The victim claimed that officials in the school district knew of the relationship but failed to warn his family.
