Americans could see some relief at the pump as 2022 begins, says the United States agency that studies the markets. The Energy Information Administration predicts the average price of regular gas will drop to $3.01 a gallon for the month of January, with the average for the year at $2.88 a gallon.
Rey "R.T." Trevino runs Pecos Country Energy, a gas exploration and production company headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas joined Marc Cox with his take on the situation globally.
"Gas prices have jumped almost 60-percent in 2021, and that was due to the fact that we did not have the supply to meet the demand of 2021," says Trevino. "Everything that had shut down in 2020, we had not caught up, we still have not caught up to the demand."
Trevino disagrees with the Energy Information Administration's predictions, "they're expecting the national average to be $2.88, I'm thinking we're going to be at least still at $3.25," per gallon.
