Treasurer Tishaura Jones will be the next mayor of St. Louis.
Jeff Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Workforce Housing Association, reacts to the news. He believes a few things that will be addressed immediately are minimum wage, police reform, and the effort to close the workhouse quickly.
More broadly, we may see increased tension between the St. Louis City and the state legislature in Jefferson City.
“I think you’re probably going to see some things end up in court,” says Smith.
Smith references “the big sort” where politics are increasingly becoming more polarizing and people are surrounding themselves with only like minds.
