COVID has forced parents to pay more attention to how the education system functions and it has left many wondering if there is a better way. Corey DeAngelis is the National Director of Research at The American Federation for Children. DeAngelis believes a better way is to fund students instead of systems.
"2021 is the year of school choice, but we are just getting started."
DeAngelis raises the question of who truly benefits from keeping the system the same. DeAngelis says that funding students directly would allow low-income families to access options they otherwise could not. He even argues that even teachers are harmed by the current system.
