The White House confirmed that the Biden administration is providing illegal immigrants with cell phones and other electronic devices for the purpose of tracking them as they await immigration court proceedings. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says they need to ensure that they know where these individuals are so they can “check in” with them.
“They say they want to track them, but you can probably see the glaring logical flaw in handing someone a cell phone and telling them that it’s going to track them,” says Victoria Coats, American Foreign Policy Council and Former Deputy National Security Advisor. “What do you do? You throw the cell phone away.”
Coats says the current administration, rather than having a concrete plan in place, is simply overseeing the chaos without the willingness to take the steps to fix the issue at the Southern Border. The cell phone tracking plan is just one example of a lackluster attempt for a solution.
“They are incentivizing people to do this lawlessly which means we can’t manage our immigration in an orderly fashion.”
