Hans von Spakovsky: Nearly impossible to hold a Senate impeachment trial with only days left in Trump’s presidency

Hans von Spakvosky gives us a legal take on efforts to impeach President Trump. Spakvosky points out that Trump actually said you should ‘act peacefully and patriotically to make your voices heard’ but, unfortunately, that is beside the point.

Impeachment is to be used to remove a sitting federal officer. The House can vote on articles of impeachment immediately, but they then have to hold a trial in the Senate. They really ought to be concentrating on trying to unify the American people. Why is Nancy Pelosi talking about Russia?

Meanwhile, Biden nominated Merrick Garland as Attorney General. Spakovsky would like to know about his previous time at the Justice Department, and the real question is, is he going to run the DOJ as a political PAC (like Holder) or will he avoid politics?
