Some 3,000 Batavia residents eagerly anticipating a spectacular fireworks show Tuesday night didn't see a spark.
Administrator Laura Newman said the computerized system that detonates the fireworks failed, forcing organizers to cancel the event.
“It was such a disappointment, but it is our intent to have that show nonetheless at a future date,” she told WBBM Newsradio on Wednesday.
Newman says this is the first year Batavia worked with a new vendor. It previous pyrotechnics contractor was acquired last year by another company.
