Steven Roberts enters congressional race challenging Rep Cori Bush

Missouri State Senator Steven Roberts has thrown his hat into the ring to challenge sitting Congresswoman Cori Bush for her 1st Congressional District seat in Washington, DC.

Roberts tells Marc Cox, "I had high expectations for her when she was elected to the office, but what's become apparent to me is she really doesn't have an interest in serving as a United States Representative. She's a great activist, she does a good job as far as bringing attention to issues. Take for instance her camping out on the steps of the Capitol. Great to get a lot of attention, but the work of a Representative is done inside the Capitol, whether it's the State Capitol or the US Congress."

Roberts was accused of sexual assault by former Missouri House member Cora Faith Walker in 2016, before both were seated in the House. He claimed the encounters were consensual, prosecutors declined to press charges in the case, and he later sued her for defamation. In May of 2019, he dropped his lawsuit and was elected to the Missouri Senate in 2020.
