(97.1 FM TALK) – President Donald Trump said he will not attend President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. He will be the first incumbent president since Andrew Johnson to skip his successor's inauguration, according to the Associated Press.

“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th,” Trump tweeted Friday.

Vice President Mike Pence is expected to attend the inauguration, three sources told Politico on Thursday.

Trump displayed a somber, restrained and presidential tone Thursday in a new video posted to social media, the first since Twitter locked his account for 12 hours during the U.S. Capitol riots.

In a reversal of his public appearances and social media presence even just Wednesday, the president admitted certain defeat in the November election and reflected on the violence witnessed on Capitol Hill.
