Crenshaw: 'Try hard not to offend others, try harder not to be offended'

Texas Representative Dan Crenshaw joined the Annie Frey Show to discuss cancel culture. Cancel culture is one of those words you hear a lot about but might not fully understand. Crenshaw pointed out that many people intentionally say or do something offensive and then when they garner the reaction they are, in most cases, looking for they claim they are being canceled. Cancel culture is not whenever someone disagrees with you; rather it is an attitude of un-forgiveness towards past mistakes.

“The left cancels the left, the right cancels the right, but the point is to bypass debate. It’s a dangerous place to be.”

Crenshaw says that children aren’t allowed to make mistakes anymore and that is unfair. Crenshaw recognizes that most people aren’t political philosophy experts, nor do they dive into every topic. Instead, they are just everyday people trying to get through life. Unfortunately, that leaves them ill-equipped to help their children navigate through this culture war.

“We need to give parents a tool kit to address these issues with their children.”

In an effort to equip parents, Crenshaw has partnered with Brave books. Crenshaw has authored Fame, Blame, and the Raft of Shame. The book is the fourth in a series of children’s books that are designed to help parents discuss these difficult topics with their children.  Listen to the full interview above.
