Last month Missouri's Lt Governor Mike Kehoe announced that he wouldn't seek the soon-to-be vacant Senate seat held by Roy Blunt. This week, Kehoe announced that he will run for Missouri Governor in 2024.
Former Missouri Senator Jim Talent was a bit taken aback by the early announcement, some 2 and a half years before the election.
"They are announcing in these races earlier and earlier, I don't like that, I understand why they do it," Talent told Marc Cox, "I wish the system was not such that that was necessary to do. I much prefer it when an election year is actually the election year. It's not the election 2-and-a-half years, or whatever."
