Mars Wrigley announced they are redesigning their M&M's characters to reflect a more "dynamic, progressive world." Some of the changes in the brand include switching up the footwear of the Green M&M – from a pair of high heels to a set of sneakers. The website says she now enjoys "being a hypewoman for my friends."

All six of the characters were given new bios and character traits.

The Mars website already reflects the changes in the brand, and you can expect to see the changes on M&M's packaging later this year.

Mars also stated "the refreshed M&M’S brand will include a more modern take on the looks of our beloved characters, as well as more nuanced personalities to underscore the importance of self-expression and power of community through storytelling. Fans will also notice an added emphasis on the ampersand to more prominently demonstrate how the brand aims to bring people together. M&M’S branding will also reflect an updated tone of voice that is more inclusive, welcoming, and unifying, while remaining rooted in our signature jester wit and humor."

The entire statement on the brand's attempt to create a more inclusive world can be found on Mars.com.
