Steve Yzerman won't be with his front-office team when the Red Wings make their highest draft pick in 30 years Tuesday night.

Detroit's GM will instead be communicating with his staff virtually after he recently came into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, the Red Wings announced on Twitter.

Yzerman has since received multiple negative tests and is not experiencing any symptoms. Still, out of an 'abundance of caution,' he will participate in the draft virtually both Tuesday and Wednesday.

After picking fourth overall Tuesday night, Yzerman and the Red Wings will have nine more picks on day two, including three in the second round and two in the third round.
