The San Diego Padres dropped Tuesday's game against the New York Mets 7-6 after having a 5-2 lead heading into the 7th inning.

Unfortunately for the Padres, their bullpen was unable to keep the lead in the 7th inning as the Mets put up a three spot on the scoreboard to tie the game at 5, heading into the 9th inning.

In the top half of the 9th, Pete Alonso hit a tape measure 2-run home run to left field, off of Adam Warren, to take a 7-5 lead. Alonso, who is dealing with a fued with Padres pitcher Chris Paddack, had a pretty exceptional bat flip after hitting the go-ahead home run. Although Andy Green said he did not have a problem with bat flips, he thinks Alonso should keep his away from his catcher and the umpire next time.

San Diego would not roll over in the 9th as they scored a run to make it a 7-6 game, before leaving the bases loaded against Mets closer Edwin Diaz.

The Padres did have some bright spots in tonight's game however, as Franmil Reyes hit his 10th home run of the season.
