It may only be the second week of April, but the Padres showed exactly why San Diego fans should be so excited about this team with a thrilling come from behind win over the Giants Monday night. Trailing 5-0 heading into the 5th with Giants ace Madison Bumgarner on the mound and comfortably in control up to that point, this game had all the makings of what would have traditionally been an early night for Friars fans in recent years. But this 2019 Padre team has that extra offensive gear that recent teams have been missing, and they showed every bit of it by rallying on the back of a trio of home runs to take the series opener 6-5 in San Francisco.

Fernando Tatis Jr. started the comeback in the 5th with his towering 2-run shot to left field:

Wil Myers kept the Padres rolling in the 6th with a solo shot of his own that got the boys within 2:

The Padres added another on an RBI groundout from Manuel Margot in the 7th, before Franmil Reyes stepped up to pinch hit and absolutely unloaded on a hanging slider from Giants reliever Reyes Moranta, that we can only assume may have finally landed somewhere in Oakland:

The Padres bullpen took over from there, as the trio of Brad Wieck, Craig Stammen, and Kirby Yates slammed the door on the Giants, earning the Padres a 6-5 win in the series opener and a huge momentum boost in this young season.
