Former major leaguer and current MLB agent Gary Sheffield joined the Dan Sileo Show this morning and talked about what he thinks about all of the top free agents not being singed yet with spring training starting this week.

Sheffield said when asked if he thought there was collusion in baseball:

"It is collusion. This is what happened when MLB and ownership get together however they do it, it’s communicated throughout baseball where they all know what's being offered. So that way the other person never offers more than that. How in the world would one owner offer me a contract and then another team offers me the same contract. That's collusion."

Dan Sileo then asked Sheffield if he thinks all owners are trying to win. His response was as clear as day.

"Absolutely not. And that includes every team that’s out there because like I said before not everyone gets the truth but all you have to do is ask the right people. The bottom line is if I’m second in MVP and fifth in MVP the next year and if I get injured and I lose my job to another player and all I ask is to let me win my job back in spring training because I’m a better player and they say no, that’s not wanting to win."

We will see if the top free agents such as Manny Machado and Bryce Harper will sign with a team in the next few weeks of spring training but until then, it does have to be asked, why are some of the best players in baseball still free agents?
