Super Star Winners At Quail Hollow Golf Club
The PGA Tour is a traveling circus of a sort. They have hundreds of employees that go from course to course, week after week, preparing everything for the incoming circus. I am a big golf fan and watch at least some portion of the event of the week, but some places are just boring. Each tournament is different, but some have more magic than others. Quail Hollow has shown that it has lots of magic over the years.
Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte has always been a course I have wanted to play. It's green, it's hilly, and it's aesthetically one of the best courses on the PGA Tour. It's also one of the few courses on the PGA Tour rotation that has held a major in addition to a regular tour stop. The only time the Wells Fargo has not been played at Quail Hollow was in 2017. That year, the course hosted the PGA Championship and moved its tournament temporarily. Another golf course to hold that title of a major and regular tour stop? Our very own Torrey Pines. A US Open in 2008 (and 2021), and the Farmers Insurance Open.
Every May the PGA Tour comes through Charlotte, and every May it's a can't miss for me. The reason behind me liking some random golf course in North Carolina over others? Jason Day took home the 2018 title, but this course has produced some very famous winners over the years. A lot of those wins were very famous firsts.
