Roman Reigns is a three-time WWE Champion and he recently opened up to PEOPLE about how his fitness regimen goes hand-in-hand with taking care of his mental health.

Reigns has been active in Yoda 3 Training, a progressive exercise program that was made popular by bodybuilder Neil Hill. While the workout program has done wonders to help keep him in world-class shape currently, he wanted to ensure that his future self would be taken care of as well.

"I told Neil when we first met over a year ago, that I want to grind it out for the next 15 years," Reigns said. "I want to maximize my potential for the next 15 years. And I told him, ‘This is who I am, as a performer, as a talent, but I also am a father, I'm a husband. I wear all these different hats.' And man, we've been on an unbelievable journey thus far."

The physical grind of his fitness program has added an extra benefit. His mental health has greatly improved and it’s something he believes anyone can attain.

"I definitely advise that to anyone who is on that day-to-day discipline struggle, where it's like man, even if you can't motivate yourself, create a space to where you just do it because you know you have to do it," Reigns said. "That's discipline."

"You just do it because you've already convinced yourself that it needs to be done," he continues. "It's not about being motivated. There are different tools to motivate yourself in different ways. But build a way of thinking, a mental toughness to where you just do it because you know it's going to benefit your life."

The COVID-19 pandemic has also afforded Reigns the opportunity to spend more time with his family. They’ve provided him with a strong support system and that has given Reigns the motivation to continue to better himself.

He told PEOPLE his goals are "to better myself mentally and physically, and also strengthen all of my relationships with my loved ones."
