Vaccination status may no longer matter for any team visiting Toronto.
The Canadian government is reportedly planning to drop its vaccine requirement for people who enter the country by the end of September, per multiple reports.
This would come just before the start of the MLB postseason and NBA regular season, meaning all athletes in those sports will be able to compete.
This particularly effects the MLB postseason, with the Toronto Blue Jays likely destined for a wild-card spot some teams would have been missing key players had the vaccination requirement remained in place.
It has been less of an issue within the NBA, although there were some notable players who could not compete in Toronto, including Nets star Kyrie Irving and 76ers’ Matisse Thybulle, the latter of whom could not compete against the Raptors in Toronto during a playoff series last season.
The NHL has had virtually no issue with several teams based in Canada. Only one player was unvaccinated in the league.
