NFL veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick has long been a fan favorite, owing to his trademark beard and unlikely rise to stardom, drafted as a seventh-round pick out of Harvard, a school more known for producing presidents and Nobel laureates than quarterbacks.
This weekend’s NFL Draft has brought thousands of fans to Las Vegas, including this distinguished crew, who went viral—and deservedly so—for wearing jerseys representing each of Fitzpatrick’s nine teams. That includes the Rams, Bengals, Bills, Titans, Texans, Jets, Buccaneers, Dolphins and, most recently, the Washington Football Team (now known as the Commanders). That ladies and gentleman, is called committing to the bit.
This brilliantly coordinated tribute to America’s favorite journeyman quarterback echoes a similar stunt in Seattle earlier this month, with fans showing up to T-Mobile Park dressed as members of the ‘95 Mariners because, why not?
What a long, strange journey it’s been for Fitzpatrick, who, after having his 2021 season derailed by a hip injury (which one radio caller claims resulted from a waterpark mishap), was last spotted cheering for the Bills in their playoff victory over the hated Patriots, sitting among the commoners in the nosebleed section of Highmark Stadium. Unfazed by single-digit temperatures, at no point did the 39-year-old think to put a shirt on.
