DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After 21 seasons, Gary Patterson is out as the head coach of Texas Christian University.
Jerry Kill, a special assistant on staff, will take over as interim head coach.

TCU AD Jermiah Donati released a statement late Sunday on Patterson's departure, saying that he and Chancellor Victor Boschini met with the head coach and agreed that it was time for a change in the football program.
In the statement, Donati said they asked Patterson to remain in charge through the end of the season, but Patterson "believed it was in the team's and TCU's best interests to begin the transition immediately."
Patterson, 61, led TCU to the Big 12 title in 2014. He also won one C-USA and four Mountain West conference championships.
Patterson went 11-6 in bowl games, including wins in the Rose Bowl (2010) and the Peach Bowl (2014).
