Donovan Mitchell is making his mark on the hardwood with the Utah Jazz, but with his dad, Donovan Sr., in the Mets’ employ, he keeps a close tab on what’s going on around the baseball diamond, too.
So, when one fan on Twitter asked him for a Mets prediction for 2022…well, Mitchell might have gone a little overboard in Buck Showalter-mania:
And, when someone replied that “anything less would be a bust and they would have to blow it up, Mitchell shot back by saying “agreed 1 loss and we rebuild” with three crying joy emoji.
Mitchell is also friends with now ex-Met Marcus Stroman, so one other Twitterite asked the Jazz star who he would root for if Stroman pitches for the Cubs against Mets at some point…and let’s just say his answer was the perfect blend of diplomacy and fandom:
Given that Mitchell wears No. 45 in honor of Michael Jordan’s “other” number and was at the Greenwich Boys & Girls Club the day LeBron made “The Decision,” it’s safe to say that kind of sentiment is one he is used to!
