One of the most accomplished announcers of his era, Joe Buck has been behind the microphone for countless World Series, Super Bowls and MLB All-Star Games and soon, he’ll be adding another prestigious broadcasting gig to his career resume. As reported by Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, the veteran play-by-play voice will serve as a guest host on Jeopardy! with Buck’s episodes slated to air this summer.
The long-running game show has cast a wide net in its search to replace late host Alex Trebek, enlisting guests such as Aaron Rodgers, Katie Couric, Dr. Oz and Ken Jennings, owner of the longest winning streak in Jeopardy! history (74). Along with Buck, CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie of The Today Show and actress Mayim Bialik will also try their hand hosting Jeopardy! in the coming months.
Though largely known for his contributions to sports media, Buck has ventured outside that realm on occasion, co-hosting a podcast with actor Oliver Hudson, penning a memoir and also making frequent cameo appearances on the IFC comedy Brockmire. Details of Buck’s upcoming Jeopardy! assignment remain unclear, though it’s not expected to interfere with any of his duties for Fox.
Rodgers was well-received during his recent two-week Jeopardy! stint and has publicly campaigned to be a permanent fixture on the program, believing he’d be able to balance hosting responsibilities while still fulfilling all his obligations to the Green Bay Packers.
