UCSD's magical season came to an end on Thursday night, as they lost to Michigan 68-65 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Things got off to a rough start for the Tritons, as they fell into a 10-0 hole to start the game. They didn't score their first bucket until just over five minutes into the game. UCSD trailed for the entire first half, and went into the locker room trailing 41-27 at the half.
The Tritons didn't have any quit in them however, as they came out in the second half and closed the gap to single digits. Tyler McGhie sunk a 3-pointer early in the second half to bring the Tritons within 3 points. Hayden Gray's layup with 14:40 remaining reduced the deficit to 1 point. Then, with 3:05 remaining in the game, McGhie sunk a 3 to tie the game at 63 apiece. Less than a minute later, McGhie gave the Tritons their first lead of the game on a short 2-point jumper, 65-63. That lead would only last one possession however, as the Wolverines took the lead back for good on Tre Donaldson's 3-pointer. UCSD concluded their first D-1 season with a 30-5 record.
