DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - According to multiple reports, the University of Texas has fired head coach Tom Herman on Saturday morning, following yet another disappointing season at the helm.
Herman was hired to take over the program in 2017, following a rough tenure under Charlie Strong. However, despite fielding top recruiting classes throughout his time with the team, Herman was unable to help the Longhorns turn the corner.
In his four years in Austin Herman finished with a record of 32-18, and while he won four consecutive bowl games, he failed to lead the Longhorns to either a Big 12 Championship win or a College Football Playoff appearance.
As for who would replace Herman following his departure, that question was also answered on Saturday morning, with Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian reportedly being the choice.
The hiring of Sarkisian was first reported by Chip Brown of 247 Sports.
During his time with the Crimson Tide, Sarkisian has helped create one of the most prolific offenses in college football history, helping Nick Saban's team reach the 2020 National Championship game, where they are set to face the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Sarkisian has previous head coaching experience as well, spending four seasons as the head coach with the Washington Huskies, as well as two seasons at USC. Sarkisian has a 46-35 record overall as a head coach.
