Washington Football Team’s Chase Young may have poked the bear when he declared he was coming for Tom Brady on Sunday night, but the rookie isn’t backing down from his words.

“I play ball,” Young told reporters on Wednesday. “I’m excited to go against the best. The media, their job is to stir it up. If you know me, I’m excited for every game.

“Tom Brady, you think I’m not excited to play the GOAT? You trippin’. I’m not going to apologize for saying ‘I want Tom.’ No, I want every quarterback I play against.”

Young, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has been the lifeblood of a stingy Washington defense this season, accumulating 7.5 sacks, forcing four fumbles and recovering three – including one for a touchdown. He had 44 tackles, including 10 for losses.

So, it should come as no surprise that the favorite for Defensive Rookie of the Year is feeling confident going up against the 43-year-old six-time Super Bowl champion quarterback.

“Tom Brady!” Young shouted after Sunday’s win over the Eagles. “Tom Brady, I’m coming! I want Tom!”

Of course, the danger of those comments could serve as bulletin board material for Brady and the Bucs. Head coach Bruce Arians even warned Young to “watch what you wish for.”

The Tampa offensive line has done an excellent job in protecting Brady this season, too, allowing 21 sacks – the fourth fewest in the league for quarterback who have started at least 15 games.

Brady, meanwhile, took the opportunity to compliment Young when he spoke to reporters this week.

“He’s obviously a great young player,” Brady said, per ESPN. “We’ve got our hands full with that D-line, one of the best D-lines in the league, so, Chase is a great young player. Went to Ohio State, so naturally I think the Ohio State-Michigan thing wears off on ‘em a little bit. I understand that. We’re prepared for a tough challenge, and it should be a fun game.”
