FOXBOROUGH (WEEI) -- Bill Belichick is focused on just the Patriots and typically doesn't concern himself with other matters. He has made it clear numerous times, but did he really just find out about Andrew Luck's retirement Monday afternoon at his press conference?

The coach was asked for his reaction to the shocking news that swept the NFL and sports world over the weekend, but his response hard to believe, even for him.

“He’s a good player," he said. "I didn’t see that, but I haven’t really — I don’t really follow them. We all have to make our decisions. He made his. I respect it.”

Hmm.

There's no way Belichick is just finding out about Luck retiring almost 48 hours after the fact even if he isn't on social media, or "SnapFace," as he likes to call it. The move was on the NFL transaction wire Sunday, so even if he hadn't heard the news, he likely would have seen it then.

This leaves endless possibilities to his response, though.

Is he trolling the Colts? They are the team that initiated the Deflategate saga. Could he have misspoke and meant to say, "I didn't see that coming...?" Probably not. This is a coach who chooses his words very carefully.

It's really anyone's best guess and that's probably the way Belichick likes it.
