Deep breath time. You made it! It took 13 weeks of diligent lineup setting, brokering elaborate trades, scouring the waiver wire for buried treasure and, of course, binge-watching episodes of the RADIO.COM Fantasy Football Show, not to mention all the prep work you put in this summer, neglecting precious sunlight in favor of mock-drafting like your life depended on it. But all those sacrifices—and by “sacrifice” I mean obsessively scrolling Mike Clay’s PPR rankings, seeking enlightenment in your ongoing quest to start the correct Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver—were well worth it, because now you’re here—the fantasy playoffs.

I doubt you reached this lofty threshold without incurring a few battle scars along the way. Navigating the excruciating crucible of pain and humiliation known as fantasy football is never easy. Which makes the payoff, the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, that much sweeter.

What you’re experiencing now is the American dream in all its glory, a tangible reward for those many nights spent researching on your phone or tablet, waking up to a dozen open Safari tabs (or Google Chrome if you’re of the PC persuasion) denoting obscure statistics like air yards and DVOA. You’ve become a well-oiled machine, a stat-spewing fantasy marvel overflowing with knowledge.

But you’re not done yet. Not by a long shot. This is just the beginning. You’ve slayed one dragon, but there are plenty more trap doors and stumbling blocks ahead in your ultimate pursuit of glory, an elusive fantasy football championship. You’re so close to the finish line, why abandon the chase now? You’re three wins—or two if you were fortunate enough to secure a first-round bye—away from achieving fantasy Nirvana. “Close” may get you somewhere in horseshoes or bocce ball at your socially-distanced family picnic, but not fantasy football. If you haven’t yet, it’s high time you delete “almost” from your vocabulary. The time for fun and games is over. This is war.

How’s that for a pep talk? Strap on your hard hat and get yourself prepared for the upcoming fantasy playoffs by joining me, Stephen Andress and Jordan Cohn on this week’s episode of the RADIO.COM Fantasy Football Show, where we talk postseason stashes (Julian Edelman, anyone?), Andy Dalton’s much-anticipated revenge game against the Bengals and, most importantly, how to pronounce Keke Coutee’s last name. Like, comment, subscribe … whatever you have to do.
