Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson make for an awesome duo in the "Creed" movies, capturing audiences with their raw emotions and natural chemistry on the screen. One could go so far as to call them a "dream team" for a director, portraying their characters unbelievably well in compelling films.

Thus, former NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha probably feels really excited to team up with Thompson in the new romantic drama "Slyvie's Love," an Amazon original that's set to hit the screen on Christmas Day. We expect it to be great, but we're going to avoid the "dream team" terminology for Thompson and Asomugha — I think you know why.

Vince Young and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie didn't get supporting roles.

Before his forgettable stint with the Philadelphia Eagles, however, Asomugha was as shutdown as any cornerback in the league, picking off eight passes in 2006 and earning three consecutive Pro Bowl nominations from 2008 to 2010 as a member of the Raiders.

His acting and producing career has started on a similarly high note, as he has worked on a variety of projects spanning various genres. He's featured in comedies such as "Kroll Show" and "Funny or Die" while working behind the scenes on dramatic films such as "Beasts of No Nation." His breakout role came in 2017, when he starred in Amazon Studios' "Crown Heights"

He was considered a "rising star" and "powerhouse" by Variety's Jenelle Riley following the performance, among other laudatory reviews. We're excited to see if he can follow that up with another strong display as a smooth-talking saxophonist.
